USA Network has greenlit production to pilot for drama “Burn Notice” and Bunim-Murray Prods.’ reality project “Camp Steve-O.”
“Burn Notice” comes from feature writer-director Matt Nix (“Cock & Bull”) and Mikkel Bondesen via the latter’s Fuse Entertainment. Fox TV Studios, which last year signed Fuse to a first-look pact, will produce.
One-hour revolves around a blacklisted special ops agent who takes a low-level gig as a private detective. Meanwhile, he uses his elite training to uncover the people behind the “burn notice” that ended his career as a spy and help those who can’t go to the police.
Project has been in development since last year at the cabler (Daily Variety, Nov. 15). Nix wrote the script and will exec produce alongside Bondesen.
As for “Camp Steve-O,” half-hour trails the attempts of “Jackass” and “Wildboyz” fixture Steve-O to toughen up men across the nation. Steve-O will take his own boot camp on the road, invading the homes and offices of “wimps, nerds and couch potatoes” who have been nominated by their friends and family to be “de-wussified.”
Male-skewing skein would be a likely companion for USA’s World Wrestling Entertainment franchise. “Camp Steve-O” initially had been set up at MTV.
