Upstart CW mints major money men

Nedick, Ross join new netlet

The CW has found its top money men: Mitch Nedick has joined the netlet as exec VP and chief financial officer, while Michael Ross will lead its business affairs department.

Both execs transition to the new net from the WB. Nedick and Ross will report to CW chief operating officer John Maatta, who made the announcement Wednesday. Nedick and Ross become the net’s fifth and sixth official hires.

“We have worked closely together over the last decade, and Michael and Mitch are both savvy executives with a wealth of knowledge that will benefit this nascent enterprise,” Maatta said.

Nedick will oversee the CW’s finance issues, as well as its day-to-day administration, while Ross, as exec VP of business affairs, will handle negotiations when it comes to network talent, development and license fees.

Nedick most recently served as exec VP of finance and operations at the Frog, a position he’s held since 2000. Before the WB, he spent nine years at Tribune Broadcasting (which will continue to serve as the CW’s chief affiliate group). He’s also worked at Tribune’s KTLA, as well as NBC and Arthur Young & Co.

Ross, meanwhile, first joined the WB as senior VP of business affairs in1997. He’s been exec VP of business affairs at the WB since 2003.

Ross has handled all of the WB’s business affairs issues for the past decade. Before joining the Frog, he served as senior VP of biz affairs at ABC Prods. He’s also worked at Tandem Prods./T.A.T. Communications and Embassy Television.
