Brisson, Barry bring NHL talent to percentery

CAA has brought aboard IMG hockey agents Pat Brisson and J.P. Barry, former co-managing directors of IMG Hockey.

The duo has formed CAA Hockey, a division of CAA Sports, and they bring with them other reps and a client list that includes No. 1 draft pick Sidney Crosby, Sergei Fedorov, Jaromir Jagr and other elite skaters.

CAA Sports hatched when IMG Football stalwarts Tom Condon and Ken Kremer became free agents and brought with them a list of jocks that included Peyton and Eli Manning. Following on their heels was IMG’s baseball guru Casey Close, who brought Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter and other hardballers. Agency recently brought aboard SFX Football Division co-managers Ben Dogra and Jim Steiner, making CAA the biggest gridiron dealmaker in the sport.

IMG, which has steadily been divesting from its sports rep biz, jettisoned CAA Hockey after it brought in senior exec Dave Checketts. His status as a part-owner of the St. Louis Blues precluded IMG from making hockey deals. Since the management firm had iced baseball and football, hockey was next to go.
