ABC, Fox shows lining up celebs
In the battle to keep celebs off the streets and gainfully employed, ABC and Fox did their part Monday.Alphabet web announced the lineup for the third edition of “Dancing With the Stars” — including bow-tied TV pundit Tucker Carlson and talkshow host Jerry Springer — while Fox unveiled the talent slated to test their crooning chops on the new skein “Celebrity Duets,” including former “Xena” star Lucy Lawless and ex-Chongmate Cheech Marin. “Duets,” which bows Aug. 29, also will feature pro wrestler Chris Jericho, 2004 Olympic gold medalist Carly Patterson, former Michael Jackson pal and “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” housemate Alfonso Ribeiro, “Queer Eye’s” Jai Rodriguez (the one with the mix tapes), thesp Hal Sparks (“Queer as Folk”) and “Caroline in the City” star Lea Thompson. Wayne Brady hosts “Duets,” which will pair the actors with musicians such as Belinda Carlisle, Macy Gray, James Ingram, Chaka Khan, Patti LaBelle, Smokey Robinson, Aaron Neville and Randy Travis. Joining Carlson and Springer on the dance floor for “Dancing With the Stars,” which returns Sept. 12, are onetime teen sensations Mario Lopez (“Saved by the Bell”) and Joe (formerly Joey) Lawrence; three-time Super Bowl champ Emmitt Smith; “L.A. Law” thesp Harry Hamlin (whose wife, Lisa Rinna, appeared in the previous edition); country singer Sara Evans; pop star Willa Ford; “Kill Bill” actress Vivica A. Fox; teen star Monique Coleman (“High School Musical”); and MTV reality star Shanna Moakler, late of “Meet the Barkers.” Tom Bergeron hosts “Dancing With the Stars,” along with Samantha Harris.
