10 voted in to WGAE

Members of the Writers Guild of America East have elected 10 candidates from a field of 20 to its council, with Gina Gionfriddo (“Law and Order: Criminal Intent”) amassing the most votes.

In light voting with 430 ballots cast, Gionfriddo led with 317 for a two-year freelance seat followed by incumbents Michael Winship (309) and Walter Bernstein (305), John Auerbach (272), Bob Schneider (246) and David Steven Cohen (246).

Staff seats went to incumbents Marianne Pryor (247) and Andy Meppen (220) along with Kate Miller (170) and Tom Phillips (137).

The WGA East, with about 4,000 members, negotiates jointly with the WGA West. The guild’s current film-TV contract expires in October 2007, and bargaining is expected to be contentious due to the increased aggressiveness of the leadership.
