Fremantle Intl. Distribution is teaming up with Canuck producer Insight Production Company to create a Canadian version of U.S. reality series “Project Runway.”
The U.S. series was developed by Miramax and the Weinstein Co. and gives fashion designers the chance to compete against each other for the opportunity to show their designs in front of the worldwide fashion biz and in the pages of fashion magazines.
The deal for the Canadian version was brokered by Lisa Honig, VP of program distribution in North America for Fremantle, and Jane Rimer, a consultant to Toronto-based Insight.
There is no Canadian broadcaster yet. The U.S. version of “Project Runway” airs on Bravo in the U.S. and on the Life Network in Canada.
“The Canadian edition of ‘Project Runway’ will be one of the most exciting things to happen to the Canadian fashion industry and we guarantee that it will be uniquely Canadian,” said Insight CEO John Brunton.
