World Brief

RTL Television will launch three pay TV channels and a video-on-demand service in Germany this fall.

Crime will air crime dramas; Living will showcase family, home improvement and travel programming; and femme-friendly Passion will carry soaps, telenovelas and romantic series.

The broadcaster also will develop its VOD service, allowing customers to watch hit RTL shows before they air on regular TV.

RTL already cooperates with telco Deutsche Telekom’s VOD service, offered through its high-speed Internet platform, T-Online Vision.

Rival broadcaster ProSiebenSat 1 has launched two pay TV channels and a joint VOD service with German provider United Internet.
