Bailey will share exec producer credit for 'Talkshow'

Longtime Jon Stewart collaborator Stewart Bailey has been tapped as exec producer for Fox’s upcoming latenight gabber “Talkshow with Spike Feresten.”

Also coming aboard as co-exec producer: Michele Armour, most recently co-EP on “Chapelle’s Show.”

Bailey will share the exec producer credit with Feresten, whose Fox TV Studios-produced skein debuts Sept. 16 after “Mad TV.” While bowing as a weekly Saturday night skein, Fox has indicated “Talkshow” could be the net’s first step back into the Monday-Friday latenight comedy wars.

Until leaving “The Daily Show,” Bailey spent nine years working with Stewart, picking up three Emmys and two Peabody Awards along the way. Most recently co-exec producer of Stewart’s Comedy Central skein, Bailey also worked as a producer on Stewart’s MTV and syndicated skeins.

Armour was co-exec producer of “Chapelle’s Show” from 2002 until the skein halted production. She’d previously spent seven years at CBS working on a range of news, sports and entertainment programming.

FTVS exec veepee of alternative development Holly Jacobs said Bailey and Armour will be a good comic fit with Feresten, a former “Seinfeld” scribe.

“Having worked in this realm for so long, (they) both understand the demands of producing the kind of … comedy which is so much a part of latenight,” Jacobs said.
