‘CSI’ seizes lead for RTL

Sixth season premiere attracted 5.64 million viewers

RTL, Germany’s leading commercial web, hit a homerun Thursday with its premiere of “CSI” after pinching the show from subsid channel Vox.

The sixth season premiere attracted 5.64 million viewers and a 17.9% market share, making it the day’s top-rated program. Among the key 14-49 demo, “CSI” reached a 23.6% share.

It’s not the first time that RTL has stolen shows from its sibling. It nabbed Vox’s “CSI: Miami” in April 2005 and the show became RTL’s biggest hit at that time, preeming with 4.73 million viewers and a 14.3% share.

“CSI” was Vox’s top drawer but rarely passed the 4 million-viewer mark on the web.

“CSI” also boosted RTL’s U.S. series “Bones,” which reached 3.51 million viewers and a 15.2% share.

Vox will replace “CSI” with a Wednesday lineup that includes “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” at 8:15 p.m. followed at 9:10 p.m. by “The Closer,” which got off to a sensational start Nov. 8 with a total 3.38 million viewers and an 11% share.
