Exec to manage Paris sales team
Celluloid Dreams has hired former Film Four and Element X topper Janine Gold as London-based VP of acquisitions and sales as it pushes into the English-language market.Gold will manage the Paris-based sales team as well as source and evaluate projects from around the globe, working with Toronto-based VP Charlotte Mickie. As well as continuing to sell arthouse and commercial fare internationally, Celluloid is stepping up production. Celluloid has six films across Cannes film fest’s Official Selection and the various sidebars but no competition titles this go round. Films include Johnnie To’s “Election 2,” Marco Bellocchio’s “The Wedding Director,” Djamshed Usmonov’s “To Get to Heaven First You Have to Die” and Wang Chao’s “Luxury Car,” plus two films in Directors Fortnight, Ray Lawrence’s “Jindabyne” and “Yureru,” by Japan’s Nishikawa Miwa. Projects Celluloid will tout at the mart include Bob Dylan pic “He’s Not There” and Francois Ozon’s “The Real Story of Angel Deverell.”
