C4’s new media window is open

The U.K.’s independent producers have agreed to give Channel 4 a 30-day exclusive window for exploiting new-media rights.

Move brings to an end a lengthy spat that threatened to stall C4’s ambitious plans for video-on-demand and other new-media initiatives.

Explaining the deal’s importance, C4 chief exec Andy Duncan said that it secures “us the exclusive 30-day window we need to launch a full on-demand service in the autumn” and protects the Channel 4 brand.
