Wing flying from Nielsen

Prexy-CEO ankles research firm

Andy Wing is ankling as prexy-CEO of Nielsen Entertainment to work with investment firms looking for opportunities in the media and entertainment fields.

Wing has been with the VNU-owned entertainment research firm since 1997.

As a result of Wing’s exit, Mike Marchesano, chief of VNU Business Media, which owns Nielsen, announced several management changes: Howard Ballon, who had been co-chief operating officer of the Nielsen NRG aud research unit, is being upped to be prexy of Nielsen Film & Home Entertainment.

Kevin Yoder will become sole chief operating officer of Nielsen NRG, reporting to Ballon.

Marchesano said in a statement, “While I regret Andy’s decision to leave, I respect his decision to step down at this time.”

Wing said in a statement, “The media and entertainment landscape is at an especially unique inflection point with the new influx of new technologies and evolving consumer preferences.” He plans to work not only with investment firms but other public and private orgs as well.

Wing came to ACNielsen from American Express. He was first in charge of box office data division EDI. When VNU purchased ACNielsen in 2001, he was named prexy-CEO of Nielsen Entertainment, where he oversaw a portfolio including NRG, EDI, SoundScan, VideoScan and BookScan.
