Guild announces 20 noms for 10 open seats

The Writers Guild of America East has announced 20 nominees for the 10 open seats on its council for two-year terms.

The 10 candidates for six open freelance seats include incumbents Walter Bernstein and Michael Winship, along with Madeline Amgott, John Auerbach, David Steven Cohen, Jerome Coopersmith, Gina Gionfriddo, Maria Maggenti, Bob Schneider and Richard Vetere.

Oscar-winning scribe Budd Schulberg, who has served nine consecutive two-year terms as a freelance rep, is not seeking re-election.

The 10 candidates for four open staff seats include incumbents Andy Meppen and Marianne Prior, along with Roger Fortuna, Charles Lyons, Kate Miller, Tanya Mills, Matthew Nelko, Tom Phillips, Phil Pilato and Lisa Shell.

Members may vote by mail or in person at the annual membership meeting on Sept. 21. The Gotham-based WGA East reps about 4,000 members.
