Studio offers 'House' to auds
HOLLYWOOD — At Tuesday’s Cinerama Dome preem for “The Lake House,” timing — said to be everything — was counted in the film’s favor.
“This is pure counterprogramming in a marketplace dominated by CGI and action-adventure,” said Warners’ distribution topper Dan Fellman.
Producer Erwin Stoff called the pic “unique in the marketplace” and said, “When you look at past years and see the success ‘Ya-Ya Sisterhood…’ and ‘The Notebook’ had on this date, it’s a date that works for romances.”
After-party was at the Cabana Club, where Village Roadshow’s Dana Goldberg said, “The beauty of this movie is it has a supernatural element, but what it’s about is love, faith, romance and believing in something bigger than yourself.”
