U.S. skeins get Brit love

'Shark,' 'Vanished' to air on web

Five, the U.K. web soon to launch digital channel Five US, has acquired terrestrial and digital terrestrial rights to conspiracy saga “Vanished” and legal skein “Shark” from 20th Century Fox.

Basic pay rights for “Shark” have gone to UKTV Gold, which will air the series after Five.

“Shark” bows this fall on CBS in the U.S.

“Vanished” will debut on Fox in the U.S. in September.

Meanwhile, rival Channel 4 and sister station E4 have won exclusive broadcast rights to Sony Pictures Television Intl. thrillers “Kidnapped” and “Runaway.”

Channel 4 and E4 will air both dramas in 2007.
