Turner Broadcasting has promoted Sal Petruzzi to senior VP of public relations for ad sales, marketing and sports.
In effect, Petruzzi adds sports to his existing duties as VP of ad sales and marketing. The sports-PR function became available when senior VP of PR Greg Hughes decided to leave Turner Sports and the Atlanta Braves after 19 years with the company.
In an internal memo, Hughes, who’s leaving at the end of the month, praised Turner but said with the company’s sale of the Braves, the scope of his job would’ve changed.
Petruzzi, who’ll remain based in New York, joined Turner in 2003 from A&E, where he was director of public affairs and communications. Before A&E, he was VP and senior executive for Dan Klores Associates.
