'Wedding' finds love on B'way

With producer Margo Lion and New Line Cinema reteaming to present their second new tuner after the hit “Hairspray,” it’s only natural that John Waters and Marissa Jaret Winokur (who won a Tony for “Hairspray”) should turn out to cheer on “The Wedding Singer.”

Based on the 1998 Adam SandlerDrew Barrymore pic, the show, set in the 1980s, abounds with references to touchstones of the era such as the Clapper and “Flashdance.”

“This is a musical for your generation,” Lion told a thirtysomething reporter. “I have my son here with me tonight, and he’s in heaven — and he usually hates Broadway musicals!”
