Theatre Works Simonson dies

Associate producer helped with over 80 productions

Susan Raab Simonson, an associate producer at L.A. Theatre Works, died of cancer Nov. 27. She was 37.

A memorial will be held at 11 a.m. Dec. 9 at St. Anselms Church in Ross, Marin County. A Los Angeles memorial will be held at a later date.

Simonson worked on LATW shows in both Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. She helped put together more than 80 productions over seven years, overseeing casting and choice of plays with LATW producing director Susan Loewenberg.

Founded in 1974, L.A. Theatre Works is best known for its “The Play’s the Thing” series of audio productions.

Susan Raab was born in Green Brae, Calif. and studied at the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco. She produced shows in San Francisco by playwrights Marlene Meyer, Nina Beber, Howard Korder and Octavio Solis.

She is survived by her husband, director and playwright Eric Simonson; a son; her parents and two brothers.
