The ‘Devil’s’ in the details

'Prada' preems in BevHills

WHAT: Thursday’s special unspooling of 20th’s “The Devil Wears Prada” for industry assistants to mingle and swap boss horror stories.

WHERE: The Writers Guild Theater in BevHills

HAZE DAZE: Lauren Hochberg, assistant to ICM corporate communications VP David Shane is happy with her current gig, but past experiences led her to relate instantly to the film. An internship at Paramount mirrored some of the same frustrations shown onscreen.

“Your boss doesn’t exactly have to be a Prada-wearing devil to relate,” she said. “Being an assistant is like being initiated into a club. It’s hazing — you have to be beaten down a little bit in order to get back up.”

One assistant said her former boss complained about someone making business phone calls outside the office and asked, “Could you please remove her.”

Another said he hadn’t endured anything quite as bad as in the pic, but has friends who got a “coffee cup to the head.”
