Spike gets amped up

Duo to topline cabler pilot

Lee Tergesen and Tony Curran will star in the Spike TV series pilot “A.M.P.E.D.” from exec producers Frank Spotnitz and Vince Gilligan.

Fox 21 and Brightlight Pictures are producing the drama about a group of Minneapolis police officials working to stop an epidemic from spreading. Strand causes strange genetic mutations in its victims, leaving them violent and destructive.

Steven Mitchell and Craig Van Sickle have come aboard as exec producer-showrunners. Rob Lieberman will direct the pilot and exec produce.

Tergesen will play a veteran homicide officer, while Curran will play a tough cop whose methods clash with Spicer’s.

Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Josh Biton, Sarah Brown and Troy Winbush have also joined the cast.

Production begins today in Vancouver.
