SYDNEY — Aussie producer Southern Star has inked a first-look distribution deal with the U.K.’s Coastal Prods., creator of hit Blighty skein “Wire in the Blood.”
Southern Star already reps Coastal’s current “Wire” output plus dramas “Rocket Man” and “Beaten.”
“We are thrilled to be extending and expanding our close association with Coastal Prods.,” said Catherine Payne, topper of Southern Star Intl. “We are looking for a further one or two major partnerships like this in the U.K., as the alliance with Coastal shows such arrangements can work extremely well for both parties.”
Coastal Prods., the shingle of “Wire” topliner Robson Green and producer Sandra Jobling, aims to produce features and TV dramas in Blighty’s north and give young Brits a leg up in the industry.
Its other production and co-production credits include “Take Me,” “Blind Ambition” and “Unconditional Love.”
“Wire” has proved a solid pickup for Southern Star, selling to international territories including BBC America in the U.S., ZDF in Germany, pubcaster the ABC and UKTV in Oz and HBO in Latin America.
