Rodriguez teams with offspring for laffer

Comedian Paul Rodriguez is teaming with his son, skateboarding champ Paul Rodriguez, Jr., to star in a sitcom pilot for UPN.

The untitled Rodriguez show comes from Paramount Network TV, through Joe Roth’s TV shingle. Roth will exec produce with David Goetsch (“Game Over”), who’s writing the pilot.

Laffer will revolve around the relationship between father and son, who reunite after a lengthy estrangement.

The elder Rodriguez, who first rose to fame as the star of the short-lived 1983 sitcom “A.K.A. Pablo,” most recently exec produced and starred in “The Original Latin Kings of Comedy,” the stand-up tour that turned into a Showtime special.

He also appeared in the features “A Cinderella Story” and “Baadasssss!” as well as “Ali,” “Tortilla Soup” and “Rat Race,” and guested several times on the series “Resurrection Blvd.”

An X-Games gold medalist, Rodriguez, Jr., who goes by the nickname “P-Rod,” is a member of the Plan B skateboarding team.
