HOLLYWOOD — Tuesday’s Academy premiere for “Running With Scissors” offered dual firsts: inaugural film greenlit by TriStar topper Valerie Van Galder; and debut feature from “Nip/Tuck” creator Ryan Murphy.
Before the screening, Murphy said Sony topper Amy Pascal found the low-budget film an extra $1 million for ’70s period music. “I thank her and Elton John thanks her.”
After-party was in Acad’s lobby, where guests included stars Evan Rachel Wood, Jill Clayburgh and Annette Bening.
Van Galder said the film “has its own unique kind of energy. It’s like ‘The Brady Bunch’ on designer drugs.”
