Ruck takes ‘Drive’ with Fox

Thesp shifts gears to drama pilot

Alan Ruck (“Spin City”) has climbed aboard “Drive,” the Fox pilot centering on an illegal cross-country road race.

Ruck will play John on “Drive,” which has been described as a fictional “The Amazing Race” on acid. Twentieth Century Fox TV is behind the drama pilot from scribe-exec producers Tim Minear and Ben Queen.

In other casting news:

  • Kathleen Rose Perkins will play the newly engaged Jennifer on CBS’ untitled Tom Hertz pilot from Sony Pictures TV. Perkins is also guest starring in the ABC pilot “Help Me Help You.”

  • Scoot McNairy is set to play Jake, opposite Jennifer Esposito, in the Fox comedy pilot “More Patience,” from Sony Pictures TV.

  • Cynthia Stevenson has joined the cast of CBS comedy pilot “You’ve Reached the Elliotts,” playing Tracy opposite star Chris Elliot. Chris McDonald has been added to the project in the role of Phil. Warner Bros. TV is behind the projectMeanwhile, CBS has quietly rolled a pair of cast-contingent comedy contenders to next season’s development roster.

“Generations” a half-hour from scribe Cheryl Holliday, and “Never in My Wildest,” from Carol Leifer, will both be shifted to the Eye’s 2006-07 slate. DreamWorks and NBC Universal are the producers of both projects.
