Sherman returns to netlet as drama chief
Thom Sherman has ankled J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot shingle, returning to the network fold as the CW’s drama chief.
Sherman will serve as exec vice president of drama development at the fledgling netlet, overseeing all of the CW’s activities in that division. He’ll report to CW Entertainment prexy Dawn Ostroff, who announced the appointment Wednesday.
Ostroff said she was looking for a exec to “elevate the CW in the community and ultimately, where it matters most, on the screen.”
Buzz had been circulating for weeks that Sherman was planning to depart Bad Robot; it’s known that he’d been in talks with several entities around town, including NBC Universal TV Studio.
Sherman had been president of Bad Robot since February 2004, and served as an exec producer on the production pod’s ABC drama “What About Brian” and upcoming Alphabet entry “Six Degrees.”
Before that, he spent five years heading up ABC’s drama department.
