Ride of a lifetime

'Fast' sequel revs up

“The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift,” which U prexy Donna Langley called “a kick ass, crowd-pleasing lifestyle movie,” launched Sunday at U’s Amphitheater.

Producer Neal Moritz said the key to the successful franchise is it “can be a movie, a game, a TV show or a soundtrack, because it’s really about a lifestyle vs. just about plot.”

Part of the preem’s daylong event, which included a press tour and pre-screening party, was the opening of a ride based on the film.

Moritz said an advantage to having this addition to U’s theme park “is in my old age I can bring my kids and say, ‘I made a movie and they’ve got a ride here.’ “
