RHI, M6 ink licensing deal

Agreement is for slate of upcoming projects

CANNES — Robert Halmi’s RHI Entertainment has inked an agreement with France’s M6 whereby the Gallic station has agreed to license the U.S. company’s slate of upcoming minis, movies and library material.

The agreement, signed on the eve of Mipcom, includes projects like “The Last Templar,” “Marco Polo” and “Son of a Dragon,” the last two having just wrapped in China.

In addition RHI has received the greenlight to produce a dozen telepics and three miniseries for a 2007 delivery to the Hallmark Channel.

Telepics include “Claire” toplining Valerie Bertinelli and “In Spring Thaw” starring Melissa Gilbert.

Deals come on the heels of an announcement that RHI has purchased the Crown Media library of 600 telepics, minis and series. The catalog had been acquired from Hallmark Entertainment in 2001. No figure was available for the buyback.
