LAS VEGAS — Broadway stars mingled with Sin City headliners as “Phantom: The Las Vegas Spectacular” preemed at the Venetian Resort’s glitzy new $40 million theater Saturday.
Helmer Harold Prince declared there were no problems in mounting the production: “All the surprises that we intended, they’re all up there (onstage).”
Carol Burnett, attending “Phantom” in support of Prince, offered her take on the classic show, “I like the romance and the scariness.”
Andrew Lloyd Webber was pleased with his Vegas version, saying,
“I’ve been trying to do it here for 20 years.”
