Stars shine for Stone at charity fashion show
HOLLYWOOD — At Macy’s Passport fashion show, Sharon Stone was a woman on a mission: to raise a whole lotta coin for HIV/AIDS research.
Serving as celebrity auctioneer, Stone strutted the runway in vintage Gucci on Thursday at Santa Monica’s Barker Hangar, stepping down only to sit on the laps of thirsty donors. She even persuaded one generous guest to buy an original Santana electric guitar for $1,400.
Thesp then invited attendees to join her on the runway as a promise to donate money to send kids with the disease to Disneyland; 28 guests rose up to send 1,450 kids to the theme park.
As the auction turned into a fashion show, Sean Combs took the catwalk in Sean John, while Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and Jimmy Smits donned Hugo Boss.
After a standing ovation, Elizabeth Taylor talked about the state of AIDS awareness, telling the aud to “talk about AIDS with a young person. (It’s) like telling them you love them.”
