SYDNEY — The Nine network has won the TV rights to the story of the two trapped miners in Beaconsfield, Tasmania.
Todd Russell and Brant Webb spent 14 days trapped almost a mile underground in the gold mine after a cave-in that killed workmate Larry Knight.
Nine looked like the front runner after topper Eddie McGuire got the pair to appear on a special concert for the mining town last week. However, it also was known the pair had warmed to presenter David Koch, host of Seven network’s breakfast skein “Sunrise.”
Nine announced it will air a two-hour special Sunday night with the miners, to be hosted by “A Current Affair” host Tracy Grimshaw.
