It was mostly business, mixed with heavy doses of rose champagne, as weary Cannes attendees entered a weekend of still-more receptions and pic promo ops.
Sting and Trudie Styler jetted into Cannes on Saturday, just in time for First Look’s soiree at the Majestic. The Norwegians packed into a big blowout to celebrate four official Cannes selections on the Scandi terrace overlooking the Croisette. Still others scurried to yacht parties from Isle of Man Film Commission’s to Kodak’s, despite strong winds and choppy waves in Cannes’ Old Port. AFI Fest’s yacht party, meanwhile, had to be cancelled.
Later on Saturday night, hordes of partygoers battled their way on to crowded buses to make the trek up the hill to MTV’s annual bash at Pierre Cardin’s futuristic, Gaudi-on-acid bubble house. Just after midnight, the designer’s summer home was overflowing with guests who were braving the breezes at the outdoor bars, squeezing into the more sheltered dance areas and staggering through the villa’s tube-like corridors.
In short, just another Saturday night in Cannes.
