Dave Sibley will become managing director of MTV Networks Australia in July, the division announced on Tuesday, while MTV Nets has tapped Martin Michel deputy managing director at its Berlin HQ.
Sibley replaces Nigel Robbins, who was upped to head Asia-Pacific operations in January, and will report to him.
Sibley has a 10-year history with the network, including a recent stint in Blighty as senior VP-general manager, international marketing partnerships.
In the new post he will promote the brands on feevee and digital platforms Down Under and also sit on the board of Nickelodeon Australia, a joint venture of MTV Networks and XYZ Entertainment.
MTV’s Oz operations will relocate to East Sydney later this year.
In Germany, Michel, a former exec at ad sales house IP Deutschland, will oversee operating business and report to MTV Nets managing director Catherine Muehlemann.
MTV Networks operates musicvid channels MTV, Viva and Viva Plus in Germany, as well as tyke web Nickelodeon in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, reaching some 36 million households. Company also operates six digital pay TV musicvid outlets.
