Talent manager Melisa Birnstein, who headed Associated Artists Management, died Dec. 18 in Los Angeles of breast cancer. She was 42.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Jan. 18, at noon at the Globe Playhouse, 1107 N. Kings Road, West Hollywood.
Born Melisa Owen in North Carolina, she graduated from Bowling Green State University in Ohio.
After starting law school to train as an entertainment attorney, she took a job at a casting agency and became inspired to start her own business.
She worked at the William Morris Agency and in the casting department at Columbia Pictures before launching her own agency in 1991.
Her client roster included some 100 actors.
She is survived by a brother and her parents.
