Mayhem hitches laffs

Ciardi, Gray to exec produce comedy

Feature producer Mayhem Pictures is taking a swing at television, setting up the half-hour comedy “Unhitched” at the CW and Touchstone TV.

Company principals Mark Ciardi and Gordon Gray will executive produce the project about two thirtysomething divorcees who move in together to start new lives.

Nichole Millard and Kathryn Price, who just finished writing “The Game Plan” for Mayhem, will write the pilot and exec produce.

“Unhitched” reps a departure for Disney-based Mayhem, known best for producing sports features like “Invincible,” “Miracle” and “The Rookie.”

“We’re slowly getting into television, looking for the right projects,” Ciardi said. “This project will help us ease into the comedy world as we try to expand and become a more well-rounded company.”

Story for “Unhitched” is loosely based on the real-life experiences of Millard and Price.

Millard and Price are hammering out a script for the net.

CAA packaged the project.
