In response to the growing Latin American appetite for British programming, Granada Intl. is opening an office in the region and appointing Flavio Medeiros to the newly created position of senior sales executive.
Medeiros, a veteran programming exec for the Walt Disney Co. in South America, will be based in Rio de Janeiro and report to Granada Intl. director of sales Tim Mutimer.
The moves were unveiled Wednesday in London by Granada Intl. managing director Nadine Nohr.
Medeiros will be responsible for developing the company’s business in the Latin region and with Spanish-speaking U.S. networks while building on the Granada Intl. work already in place.
“Flavio has longstanding relationships with our key business partners in Latin America and the U.S.,” Nohr said.
Since 2005, Medeiros has served as senior manager for the Mouse House’s Jetix Programming, where he was responsible for program planning and acquisitions. In addition, he oversaw program acquisitions for Disney Channel Latin America. Medeiros joined Disney in 2001 as an acquisitions manager for Latin America.
Granada Intl. is the program distrib arm of Britain’s commercial ITV net.
