Widow of director Ed Wood Jr.
Kathy Wood, widow of director Ed Wood Jr. , died of cancer on June 26 in Hollywood. She was 84.
In 1955, she met and soon married Ed Wood, a struggling filmmaker and offbeat pulp fiction author. She was an active partner in her husband’s work, helping edit and adding ideas to his writings (including coining the term “solarnite bomb,” from “Plan 9 From Outer Space”). After his death, she was instrumental in getting his script “I Woke Up Early the Day I Died” produced as a feature, and appeared in the film.
She was played by Patricia Arquette in the 1994 film “Ed Wood.”
She is survived by a sister.
