CANNES — Richard Holmes, producer of “Waking Ned” and “Shooting Fish,” has resigned as a director and exec co-chairman of Gruber Films, the British production company he founded in the early ’90s.
Gruber will now be run solo by Ron Fogelman, the former Rank and Universal sales exec who became a partner with Holmes in 2003.
Holmes is quitting because he and Fogelman have failed to get any movies off the ground since they joined forces.
Most recently, they were hoping to produce Peter Capaldi’s “The Great Pretender,” which was set to star Ewan McGregor. The project stalled after a disagreement with Capaldi over casting the female lead.
