Fox finds romance author

Contest winner Dennis signs on for development deal

Fox Television Studios has awarded a development deal to Sara Dennis, a romance author who won an online contest sponsored by News Corp.

The Rancho Cordova native picked up the prize in a contest run by AvonFanLit, a Web site that sought to find new romance writers via an online forum, for her work “Sienna.”

Dennis will be awarded $5,000 and a 12-month development deal with FTVS. Studio said it does yet know what project will be developed.

Both Avon Books, a division of HarperCollins, and Fox Television Studios are owned by News Corp.

HarperCollins reports that it has drawn 20,000 posts to AvonFanLit since it launched its online community.
