HOLLYWOOD — The Hollywood Film Festival’s position in the ever-burgeoning world of fests is still unclear, but it wrangled the “Flicka” launch with an ArcLight preem and Memphis after-party.
Helmer Michael Mayer, who lives in New York, said he hadn’t heard of the fest and didn’t know “what the implications are. My first film was at Outfest and that was as clear as a bell. This is a bit more mysterious.”
Fox 2000 topper Elizabeth Gabler said “Flicka” “has a strong message about what America stands for, and putting the film in a festival with more adult fare highlights the more dramatic elements.”
