Mike Nelson and Joanne Calabria have been upped to newly created posts overseeing communications and public affairs, respectively, for the CBS Television Stations.
Nelson, currently in charge of PR for the Eye’s L.A. duopoly of KCBS and KCAL, will serve as the main spokesman for the CBS stations group. He’ll also provide counsel to all 39 stations owned by CBS, including outlets in Gotham, L.A. and Chicago.
Calabria, who heads PR for the Eye’s Philly duopoly of KYW and WPSG, will develop and implement groupwide public affairs initiatives for the stations group.
“We have many of the top local broadcasting properties in this business, and it’s imperative that we better organize and communicate these efforts nationwide,” said Tom Kane, prexy-CEO of CBS Television Stations.
Nelson has been at KCBS/KCAL since July 2002, having previously spent six years at NBC and 13 years in the NBA.
Calabria has been a CBS staffer for 25 years. She won a Philadelphia-area Emmy for the public service campaign “For Kids’ Sake.”
