NFL Network has named Kimberly Williams chief operating officer.
Williams shifts over from senior VP of finance for the National Football League.
Williams joined the NFL three years ago, and the league drew on her expertise to help launch NFL Network in November 2003. As part of her NFL duties, she worked on setting up the net’s financial operations.
In the new job, Williams will take over management of advertising, affiliate sales and network operations and administration. She reports to Steve Bornstein, prexy-chief exec of NFL Network.
Before the NFL, Williams was senior VP-chief financial officer of NBC’s West Coast operations.
NFL Network is engineering a major push to get contracts with cable-operator holdouts like Time Warner and Cablevision.
For the first time, the net has the clout of eight regular-season primetime games, alternating between Thursdays and Saturdays, starting with Thanksgiving Day.
