LATIN AMERICA — ESPN has reached an agreement for multiplatform domestic and international rights through 2009 for the UEFA Champions League soccer tournament.
Deal makes ESPN the only broadcaster for all Tuesday UEFA Champions League matches in Latin America. Cabler also will have exclusive pay broadcast rights in the region for Wednesday matches. Live telecasts will be offered pan-regionally on ESPN’s Latin America and Caribbean network, in the southern cone on ESPN+, in the northern cone on ESPN Dos and on ESPN Brasil.
In the U.S., UEFA Champions League matches will be televised on ESPN2, which reaches 90 million homes; on Spanish-language TV net ESPN Deportes; and on ESPN360, the company’s broadband service. ESPN also will provide matches on ESPNdeportes.com and ESPNsoccernet.com.
