Duo show their ‘Restraint’

IFC preems unusal pic

NEW YORK — For IFC brass, a perk of picking up experimental pic “Drawing Restraint 9” must be getting to hang with the artist-filmmaker Matthew Barney and his wife — the pic’s co-star and Icelandic alt-pop chanteuse Bjork. In the film, Barney’s lens captures a tanker filled with petroleum jelly, a parade of animals and a tea ceremony in which he and Bjork wear costumes inspired by Shinto marriage rites.

VPage never would dream of asking a star, “Who are you wearing?,” but when Bjork walked the red carpet at MoMA, all eyes were fixed on the onetime swan-dress-donning fashion staple. (She opted for a de facto kimono, which fit the evening’s aesthetic, for the unspooling of the pic — which follows two guests on a Japanese whaling ship in Nagasaki Bay — and its after-party, thrown at Gotham’s Japan Society.)
