‘CSI’ finale scores for Vox

Tarantino-helmed segs break records

German web Vox garnered record ratings Wednesday with the two-part season finale of “CSI” directed by Quentin Tarantino. With the show on Vox one season behind CBS, local viewers have been closely following the series’ fifth season here.

Part one of Tarantino’s “Grave Danger,” aired at 9:15 pm, attracted a record 4.9 million viewers and a 16 share for the broadcaster, a subsidiary of the RTL Group. Part two, at 10:15 pm, broke that record with 5.26 million viewers and a 21.6 share.

Vox, which focuses mainly on hit U.S. series such as “Law & Order: Criminal Intent,” “Crossing Jordan” and “Gilmore Girls,” has made “CSI” and “CSI: NY” cornerstones of its lineup.

Even Vox affiliate RTL Television, Germany’s leading commercial web, is hooked. It nabbed “CSI: Miami” from Vox last year, and the series has become one of its biggest hits.

Despite Vox’s record ratings, it was pubcaster ARD that topped the charts Wednesday with its telepic “Leo,” about siblings looking to off a reverend who inherited their late mother’s fortune. The black comedy attracted nearly 5.8 million viewers.
