Security is always tight at Pusan parties, but it will be difficult to trump the ninja warriors guarding the portals of CJ Entertainment’s party Saturday night.
The black-clad martial arts experts star in the forthcoming big-budget Jo Dongoh pic “The Restless,” starring Kim Tae-hee and Jung Woo-sung, a hot property in Korea who came to fame with 1997 pic “Beat.”
The ninjas later abandoned the velvet rope to give a stirring dance show, after which guests were treated to clips from “The Restless.” Singers Maybee and Hye-sung provided the songs. The stars of the movie, which also features Hur Jun Ho, appeared onstage after the rushes, and a quiz proved very popular with the guests.
It was a two-tier party, with the masses — mostly local press and other desperate fans — gathered on one level, with VIPs above on the balcony, where CJ prexy JS Kim hosted Mayor of Honolulu Mufi Hannemann, Fortissimo Films’ Wouter Barendrecht, Imaginasian’s David Chu, iHQ’s Catherine Park, Boram Entertainment’s Lee Joo-ick, 360 Management’s Bill Choi and rising helmer Lee Seung-moo, plus Klockworx Pictures’ Tetsu Negami and Kana Koido. CJ’s new international sales
topper Tom Oh was also on hand to meet and greet.
