Arts board adds six

Bush appoints new members to National Councel of the Arts

WASHINGTON — Indie producer Frank Price and L.A.-based actor-artistic director Ben Donenberg are among six individuals President Bush tapped Friday to serve on the National Council for the Arts, the advisory body of the National Endowment for the Arts.

Price, former Columbia Pictures Prods. topper and currently chairman-CEO of Price Entertainment, and Donenberg, founder and producing a.d. of Shakespeare Festival/L.A., will advise the NEA chairman on programs and policies.

Others appointed to the panel are jazz percussionist Chico Hamilton, Kansas City arts exec Joan Israelite, Ohio arts patron Charlotte Kessler and author Robert Bretley Lott.

Following their Senate confirmation, the council members will replace outgoing members Don V. Cogman, Mary Costa, Katharine Cramer DeWitt, Teresa Lozano Long, Maribeth Walton McGinley and Deedie Potter Rose.
