Al-Jazeera opens up

Iran has lifted its ban on Al-Jazeera, which reopened its Tehran bureau this week. Arab satcaster was banned in April 2005 after authorities accused it of fueling ethnic tensions with its coverage of clashes between Arabs and security forces in the southwestern province of Khuzestan.

In a separate development, Iranian authorities have banned the Economist magazine after it used the term “the Gulf” instead of Iran’s preferred Persian Gulf.
