Al-Jazeera celebrating 10th anni

World Brief

Al-Jazeera will commemorate its 10th anniversary by unveiling a Wall of Freedom on Wednesday at its Doha, Qatar, headquarters in honor of journalists worldwide who have been killed during assignments.

The 55-foot-tall memorial designed by Iraqi-Canadian artist Mahmoud Al Obaidi is inscribed with more than 630 names.

“Reporting the news has become extremely unsafe in many parts of the world, and more needs to be done to assure protection for journalists,” said Al-Jazeera director general Wadah Khanfar.
