ABC extends laffer layoffs

'Emily,' 'Jake' still in limbo

ABC will be yukking it up a bit less over the next few weeks.

Net has extended its unplanned hiatus for Monday laffers “Emily’s Reasons Why Not” and “Jake in Progress,” keeping them on the bench for at least two more weeks. And on Fridays, “Hope & Faith” will remain on vacation through February to make room for a permanently expanded hourlong results show for “Dancing With the Stars.”

As for Mondays, a repeat of “The Bachelor” will fill the 9 p.m. slot next week, while a celeb wedding special plugs the hole on Jan. 30.

Airing a repeat of “The Bachelor” in the 9 p.m. slot this week paid off. While the repeat’s ratings were flat, Nielsen numbers for 10 p.m. original seg shot up significantly over last week’s premiere.

No decision has been made as to when — or if — ABC will air the remaining episodes of “Emily’s” and “Jake.” Former has halted production after filming six episodes (Daily Variety, Jan. 17.)
