'Home' finds friends despite foul weather
NEW YORK — The Hudson Hotel after-party for “A Prairie Home Companion’s” DGA preem Sunday was a publicist’s worst nightmare. Rain forced more than 100 guests from the hotel’s spacious patio into a small library area with one bar and too few seats.
While publicists and managers sought guests to give up their seats for pic’s Lindsay Lohan and her entourage, Virginia Madsen, Lily Tomlin and Garrison Keillor mingled with guests including Lauren Bacall and Jena Malone.
Picturehouse topper Bob Berney pointed out that although the pic’s cast includes Hollywood royalty– Meryl Streep, Kevin Kline and Tommy Lee Jones — Lohan had something none of her castmates could offer the distributor.
“Admittedly we are going for the older audience first, but we have elements, obviously Lindsay, that will at least give us attention from younger audiences,” Berney said. “If we get any of that younger audience, it is extra.”
